Your energy is a compass

Energy is like income, a checkbook, your IQ. You don’t have the same as everyone else, and you’re not supposed to.

And you have different energies available for different things.

When energy gets low you can experience stress. Then stress uses up more energy. Lower energy leads to more stress and less energy and more stress. It’s a rotten little circle.

God may give you less energy in some areas so that you won’t focus on areas where he doesn’t want you.

If you do mis-focus, you run out of gas to force you back to where you should be.

You know those times when you’re going hard but you’re not tired and you feel like you could go on forever?

Maybe that’s your true north.

If you could take a pill that imparted encouragement and big picture perspective the whole world would change. In Charlotte, NC I try to help New Life 91.9 radio to be that pill. I also team up with my wife Brenda, and our daughters and sons-in-law, to try to dent the world with a bit of hope and encouragement.

Wow. These lines hit me right between the eyes. They’re so true. I’ve had M.E. (known as C.F.S. in America, I think) for almost 25 years (I’m just about to turn 29), and low-energy is part of daily life. I’ve always known that God allowed me to have this illness & had always looked at it from the point of view that His strength is glorified in my weakness – which is true, but you’ve given me another side of the coin here (with the same end result – to glorify Him) – it’s maybe to make me focus on the areas I should be focusing on and do what He’s given me to do, because if I had ‘normal’ energy levels I’d be on the go here, there and everywhere.

I’ve actually learned a lot through having M.E. and God has been so present that it has deepened my relationship with Him in a way that probably wouldn’t have happened had I been fully healthy. And this post has given me a fresh look & perspective. Thank you, Gary. God bless.
